Summer, with its sunny days and warm evenings, is the perfect season to enjoy outdoor dining pleasures. It’s the ideal time to gather with friends or family around a barbecue, a picnic, or drinks on a terrace.
Summer is the quintessential season for appreciating fresh wines. With the high temperatures, our palates seek sensations of lightness and freshness. Tasting a chilled wine provides immediate pleasure, whether as an aperitif, during an outdoor meal, or simply to relax in the sun.
Rosé Wine: The essential choice for aperitifs
When we think of summer, we naturally think of rosé! Imagine enjoying a chilled glass of rosé with friends at sunset, wrapping up a warm summer day. Contrary to popular belief, not all rosés are necessarily refreshing. In fact, the sweeter the flavor, the less thirst-quenching it will be. Additionally, the darker the color of the rosé, the bolder the wine will be. It’s better to save these wines for cooler periods and avoid sipping them in direct sunlight.
Tasting tips
- It’s no secret that rosé is best enjoyed well chilled! Place it in the refrigerator ahead of time and then in a bucket of ice water to prevent it from warming up too quickly in the sun.
- Opt for dry, fruity rosés (but not too sweet) to accompany your appetizers on the terrace or by the pool.
- Forget about poolside rosés drowned in ice cubes that will dilute the flavors!

Château d’Eyran rosé
It is the perfect companion for summer. Made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, it stands out with its intense and elegant fruity aroma.
On the palate, it reveals a beautiful balance between citrus and red fruit flavors, along with an intense freshness.
Food and Wine Pairing Ideas
- Aperitif: Tapas, olives, hummus
- Dishes: Mixed salads, grilled white meats, vegetable skewers
- Desserts: Strawberry tart, fruit salad
Serve this rosé well chilled (between 10 and 12°C) and enjoy!
White wine: an obvious trend
For white wine lovers, summer is the perfect season to indulge. A dry white wine pairs beautifully with seafood dishes such as a seafood platter, ceviche, or grilled octopus. Enjoy it by the water, of course!
But white wine holds many secrets; for example, did you know it pairs exceptionally well with certain cooked pressed cheeses, like a fruity Comté or a sheep’s tomme?
Château d’Eyran blanc
Our white wine, made up of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Sémillon, is a true treasure of complexity and freshness. With barrel fermentation and aging in oak for 6 months, this wine presents a beautiful golden yellow color and an expressive nose with citrus notes, evolving into floral aromas.
On the palate, it is round and long, with predominant flavors of acacia and lemon zest.
Food and wine pairing ideas :
- Aperitif: Oysters, sashimi, seafood tapas
- Dishes: Grilled fish, dorade ceviche, warm goat cheese salad
- Cheeses: Aged Comté, fresh goat cheese
Serve well chilled (between 8 and 10°C), and this white wine will refresh and delight your palate!

And red wine? Yes, but a light red!
Contrary to popular belief, red wine isn’t to be avoided during the summer heat! On beautiful days, embrace light, fresh, and easy-drinking reds with low tannin content. These are delightful, surprising, and refreshing wines. They pair perfectly with your summer appetizers and dishes, and will impress your guests!

Château Bastian réserve
For red wine lovers, our Bastian Réserve is the perfect choice!
