Château d’Eyran

The Château was rebuilt into the current form on the gravel soil of Mount Eyran arround 1626. It became the property of the de Sèze family in 1796, brought as a dowry to Paul-Victor de Sèze by his wife (brother of Raymond de Sèze, Louis XVI’s lawyer before the National Convention) during their marriage. Doctor, philosopher, professor and member of the Estates General of 1789, he was also the first rector of the Academy of Bordeaux.
The property was passed on to Paul-Victor de Seze’s son Aurélien in the 1830’s, Vice-Président of the National Assembly and close friend of George Sand. Since this time the property has remained in the Seze family hands, being passed down from generation to generation.
At the beginning of the 20th century, due to influence of co-owner ship throught inheritance, the economic crisis and German occupation, the cellars fell into ruin and the wines were pulled out.
In the 1980s, with the support of Professor Stanislas de Sèze, the restoration of the vineyard was carried out by his granddaughter Brigitte and her husband Stéphane Savigneux, who also took care of the vinification and marketing.
At the beginning of September 2015, their son Charles and his wife Fernanda joined them on the property.
The vineyard is planted on a soil of sandy gravel and gravel on clay and limestone.
This unique terroir gives the wine an incomparable elegance and structure.
