Architecture and the architecte
«La main pense et porte en elle toute la grandeur
et l’imperfection de la sensibilité»
Sylvain Dubuisson, Bordeaux born architect and designer, is fascinated by material sand architectural know-how. He defines himself as a crafts man of space, who searches for the ideal geometry and proportionate forms. His creations illuminate a vision of the world encompassing elegance, intimacy and sharing.
Centered on the barrel cellar that seems to come out of the ground, the powerful building is waiting to fly. The roof lines intertwine admirably, the large awnings bring light to the space, the pronounced roof-tops protect the central body and the wings from its protective shade. Windows reach from the ceiling to the floor of the wings at regular intervals. The decidedly modern design fits particularly well into the local architecture with U-shaped designs, roof tiling and plastered walls.
Materials used are natural and local, a subtle balance of functionality and aesthetics. The “biobricks” in the 50 cm thick walls were made in Gironde / dropt, the tiles are traditional terracotta plastered with lime and interior paints made from natural pigments
The thick walls provide insulation with remarkable thermal inertia and moisture regulation.
